Trying to be kind?!

So, I had a flight out of Narita International Airport in a week. Then, I had someone ask a favor to bring some things to an event on the 13th. Based on the information that I received, they said it was food wrapping. So, I assumed it was compact food wrappings, thinking it was not a lot. So, trying to be kind, I said okay. Then the drama began.   They ordered the things they needed. One day, when I got home, there was a giant box full of rice ball packs. I was astonished. There were 1800 pieces in a giant box. I told them it was too big. It was over the size limit that airline companies stated.   So, I told them I needed to purchase a smaller box and pack them tightly so it all fits. So, I did, after consulting with them and deciding on the course of action. Then there were 7 bags left. So, I gave them to the friend of the person who asked the favor.   After everything was packed, he called and asked if I could bring all of it. In that moment, I wrote a rule in my...

Farming in Japan

Greetings for the day you are reading this.   The other day, I went to my friend's farm to help out. It is located in the beautiful Sagamihara area, and his company is pretty big there.   It was a very nice day; however, the wind picked up toward the end.   Each year, he hosts a day where people he knows can help out with one root vegetable, satsumo imo, because the steps to plant satsumo imo are pretty tedious and require a lot of manpower. That is a very nice thing cause it is a noble work to be able to grow and feed people.   We were talking about his business, and I spoke about my interest in the business. He was very delighted to hear that calling me “Shacho.” It was a bit embarrassing to ...

The storm before the calm.

It has been a couple of weeks since I posted.       It was hectic for a couple of weeks.       First: Work. During the summers, we offer themed programs in English (of course). This year we had two different themes: Dinosaur and Pirates. There are a lot of things that go into putting a program together. From tiny details like who is going to buy the snacks or who is going to sweep the floor, to what each teacher is going to teach and make. I am responsible for all the seasonal programs. So, I had to delegate some of the logistics tasks to other people. The first week went fine. We had wonderful kids who could understand and speak in English to a degree. Also, we were more prepared for the week. Then the second week comes. We weren't prepared as much as in the first week. There were a lot of ideas, and we did them all. Even though it felt like we weren't that prepared, we were prepared enough to have some activities that we didn...
