Stress triggers (Part 1)

Please be warned that this post might trigger mental health issues and depression. Please know that there is always help if you are struggling. Please have the courage to reach out.  In my life, several things trigger emotions in me. When I was a little bit younger, I didn't really notice them or care for them. As I think and analyze more about myself and my surroundings, I have started to notice them. It is fair to say that this process has been happening since 2017. When I was in my teens, I had the "disease to please" everyone (Oprah called it), especially my parents. Like any teenager, I tried to fit in and get good grades. Whose sake? Most likely for the approval of my parents. With my hard work, I got As and Bs on most subjects except English. It is funny. English was my least favorite subject, yet I studied in America, and I use English for my work. Don't give wrong, I liked the praise. Given my surroundings and education at that point, my view of life or anyth...

So many things in a week

So many things happened in a week.

We are waiting for a business visa for my dad because he established a company in Japan. We have been waiting for a year. Yet, we still have to file for taxes and even pay local city taxes.

I know it is weird to pay tax on a company that cannot operate because the person who established the company hasn't gotten his visa, yet. We cannot open even a company bank account because Japanese banks ask for the owner's residence card. There is no residence card if you don't have a business visa.

In Japan, if you are a business owner, you must file for taxes 3 times. First, it is the national tax. You or an accountant prepare the financial statements and you go to the national tax office for tax filing. You may or may not pay taxes because it will depend on whether you had a good year or a bad one. Second, it is the city tax. It is the tax you pay where you have your office and operate. We paid 50000 yen. I know it is weird to pay any tax even though we cannot operate. Lastly, it is the prefecture tax. Make sure you get the location from your city office. Otherwise, it is troublesome to know about the location on your own. We went there and explained our situation. The lady suggested that we should fill out a form that says the company didn't operate. Thankfully, we didn't pay anything. I am glad we managed to finish all the paperwork in one day despite having to go to three different offices.

Then I had a crazy busy three-day English program which I prepared the most. During the program, I had to talk to my co-worker because I said something in a way that could have been said better manner and he took everything to heart thinking it was his fault when it was not.

Then, today my cousin came to me and said he and his girlfriend fought and she went to her friend's place. He talked and I listened. I explicitly said that it looked like a miscommunication (obviously there is an expectation alignment issue for both of them and stubbornness).

On a personal note, I haven't been eating anything that has added sugar. My coworkers all know that. However, I keep receiving snacks. I started to put them in a tin box so I could take them to my nieces and nephews when I went home. So far, the tin box is almost full.

However, I had a sweet thing when I was venting. I immediately started to have a headache.

Starting from April (that is in a couple of days), I started to cut out carbs. The reason behind the decision is that my belly is not shrinking. I checked my blood sugar this morning, it was on the normal side, but I know I could do better. Another change I decided to make is to exercise regularly, at least 20 minutes a day.

    I will keep updating here.
